EDC Slideshow - Export an image from a PDF

Created by John Pasternack, Modified on Tue, 2 Jun at 12:29 PM by John Pasternack

The EDC slideshow requires image files as opposed to PDF files. Here's how to obtain an image file from your PDF.
.png is the recommended option, but .jpg is also acceptable.

If you only have the free Acrobat Reader:

You have a couple of workarounds:

  • You can manually copy an image from a PDF in Acrobat Reader by opening the PDF, selecting the image, right-clicking, and choosing Copy Image. You can then paste it into another app and save from there. Pdfgear
  • Use Adobe's free online tool at adobe.com/acrobat/online/pdf-to-jpg.html — no download or installation needed; you can convert right in your browser.

If you have Adobe Acrobat (paid/Pro):

Open the PDF in Acrobat and select Convert from the top toolbar.
Alternatively, from the All Tools menu, select Export a PDF. From the Convert panel, select Image format, then choose your desired format from the dropdown. Adobe

Your format options are JPEG, JPEG 2000, PNG, and TIFF. Adobe

Optionally, select Settings to configure conversion options, then click OK. Finally, choose a save location and click Save. Note that each PDF page is saved as a separate image file. Adobe

Once you've saved the image file, you'll be able to upload it into the EDC Slideshow.
